If I never have a cent
I'd be rich as Rockefeller
Gold dust at my feet
On the sunny side of the street
Life-long old soul approaching 30 provides an account of how she really is...secretly 65

Sing-a-longs
This weekend someone said something about "good vibrations"... Everyone else started singing Marky Mark... I was humming the Beach Boys.

Flats
S65: "hey Gerdy check out my sassy new flats!"
G: "oh my gosh those are great! Love the color you could wear them with black or brown!"
Come on people... High fashion is no mystery for us!

When consuming anything that involves syrup it is a must that it be decanted. I for example have a small jardinier shaped like a cat of the orange tabby variety, we refer to him as "syrup cat". Decanting syrup is especially important when preparing a breakfast tray to be taken in the second floor enclosed sun porch that overlooks the neighbourhood. Said sun porch is especially useful for being a secretly65 nosey neighbour aka "concerned citizen".

If I am walking behind someone who has just littered I often (if my own mother hasn't already) pick up what they have dropped (depending on where it lands on the sanitary scale) and quickly catch up to them loudly expressing in a cheery tone that "ooopsy! You've dropped something"
I find this especially necessary when the littered item is cellophane from cigarette packets... Yes "packets".
One of many excellent contributions from Gerdy this week - the necessity of hand written thank-you notes. People! this is the only way to go! Gerdy knows what she's talking about, I've received one from her...even the envelope was lined with the same glossy black that the "thank you" on the front of the notelet was embossed in... Yes "notelet".

I listen to classical music and radio news while driving. In addition, I use the phrase "to beat the band" ie: "she was ironing those pillow cases to beat the band!"

Welcome Gerdy! My secretly65 co-conspirator colleague!!!
Sisters in Secretly 65 Solidarity!
Chats with Gerdy are where I come up with some of my very best realizations about what truly makes someone secretly (or not so secretly) 65!
Kleenex sleeves unite!

I think Nehru collars are chic and stylish and... I love raisin pie and am perturbed by people who don't identify themselves at the beginning of a phone call.
Amendment: I am currently at the show (for you non S65ers - the movies), someone who is clearly taller than me has seated himself directly in front of me... All I can do is purse my lips and take a mental note of the back of his head...they are however playing Steely Dan pre-show, this lessens my irritation, but only slightly.

I regularly start my day at work in this order;
- greet co-workers
- turn on computer
- unpack my tote bag, setting my lunch aside to go to the fridge
- pull a fresh "Kleenex with lotion" tissue from it's box and tuck it into my left cardigan sleeve
(didn't see it coming did you... And there it was at the end... Secretly 65! Ok maybe the tote bag was a bit of a giveaway too...)

Welcome to Secretly 65,
I would like to clarify a few points, firstly that I do not wish to offend anyone who is in fact 65 years of age or beyond... (as I will occasionally describe myself as secretly 75, 85 and so on), age is something to be embraced and to value. I have many idiosyncrasies, tendencies and "quirks" for lack of a better term that are cause for some people to think I am older than I am - and I love it!
While I am in no way wishing the days away - the older I become, the better life seems to be. Not everything I do is secretly 65, but a lot of it is...this tends to be a great sense of amusement for both myself and others - I will record these secretly 65 "quirks" here, and I hope you will feel, no matter what your age, welcome to comment, discuss and add to the list.
Regards,
S65
